The tower and the frescoes

The tower is the most recognisable feature of the complex. Originally built for defensive purposes within the fortified area of Castelseprio, it was subsequently used by the monastic community.

Inside, there are early medieval frescoes, including depictions of sacred figures and nuns at prayer. These are works that deserve careful attention, as they offer an insight into the religious history of the place through the images preserved on the walls.

The Church of Santa Maria

The Church of Santa Maria is another stop on the tour. Its architecture and the traces of the alterations it has undergone help us to understand how the complex has changed over time.
